  • Signed by artist Renee Staeck.
  • Printed with pigment inks on Epson enhanced fine art paper.

The Oud is a pear-shaped stringed instrument commonly used in Arabic, Greek, Turkish, Byzantine, North African, Somali and Middle Eastern music. Construction of the oud is similar to that of the lute. The modern Oud and the European lute both descend from a common ancestor via diverging paths. The Oud is readily distinguished by its lack of frets and smaller neck. It is considered an ancestor of the guitar.

RENEE STAECK

Renee Staeck is an artist and illustrator who's work is inspired by travels and dreams, combined with a love of design, eastern art, historical illustration and the lush landscapes of Oregon.

Over the last decade, her paintings have shifted from larger scale oils and murals to small scale gouache on paper, with watercolor, ink, coffee and gold-leaf making regular appearances as well. Driven by the idea of making affordable art, she discovered giclée printing, and began selling these museum-quality digital reproductions of her paintings at indie art and craft fairs.

Today, Renee Staeck’s artwork can be found in independent shops, galleries, and the homes of a diverse array of folks worldwide.
